Browze is a mobile application that serves as an interactive city guide. It allows users to discover the hotspots of a city on an interactive city map and read about or listen to stories about these hotspots. Users can also interact with an AI assistant to dive deeper or get advice on hotspots. This Privacy Statement explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
Information We Collect
Account & Authentication
Email Address: Collected to create your account and provide access via a secure link or One-Time Password (OTP).
Unique Identifier: A technical ID assigned to your account by our authentication provider (Supabase).
Profile Information
Name: Your first name or a chosen nickname.
Profile Picture: If you choose to upload one via your camera or photo library.
Preferences: Language settings and a short "preference text" used to personalize AI responses.
Usage & Location Data
Precise Location (GPS): Collected only with your explicit permission to show your position on the map, calculate distances, and send proximity notifications (geofencing).
Tour Progress: Data regarding activated or purchased tours and your progress within them.
AI Assistant
Chat History: The text of your questions and a limited part of the recent conversation to provide context for follow-up questions.
Location Context: Coordinates are only sent to the AI if you have granted location permissions and the query requires "nearby" information.
Technical Data
Log Files: IP address, device information, and timestamps collected for security, debugging, and stability purposes.
Local Storage: Session data and cache stored on your device to keep you logged in and enable offline features.
Why We Use This Information (Legal Basis)
We process your data based on the following legal grounds under the GDPR:
Performance of a Contract: To provide the app services, manage your account, and sync your tour progress.
Consent: For accessing your GPS location, camera, photo library, or sending push notifications. You can withdraw consent for GPS location and notifications at any time in your device settings.
Legitimate Interest: To ensure the security of our services, prevent fraud, and improve the app’s functionality.
Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with trusted service providers:
Supabase: For database hosting, authentication, and file storage (Servers located in the EU).
OpenAI: To generate responses for the AI assistant. Only necessary query text and context are shared.
Maps & Ratings: On iOS, we use Apple Maps. We also display restaurant and bar ratings and data via the Google Maps API. These providers may process technical data (like IP addresses) according to their own privacy policies.
Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. You may request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time via the app settings or by contacting us at info@getbrowze.com. We aim to process deletion requests within 30 days.
Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures (such as encryption and access controls) to protect your data. In the event of a data breach, we will notify the relevant authorities and affected users as required by law.
